Upload your video. Or if you've already uploaded your video, proceed to step 2. To upload your video, we must click "Upload" on the YouTube site. Follow the set instructions when uploading.
Create your subtitles! To create them, you must open up the program "Notepad" on Windows. Mac users should use "TextEdit" located in your Application folder. Write in what the people say in your video and separate the lines with spacing. Once written up, save it as a ".txt" file to your Desktop.
Use YouTube's special editing tool. YouTube has a great tool which you can upload a text file and it will detect the lines being said on your video. To add your subtitles go to your video and above the player it will have editing options. Click the option that says "Edit captions/subtitles".
Apply your script to your video! Click "Add New Captions or Transcript". Now you can upload the script you wrote earlier. Click "Browse" and then locate your ".txt" file. When found, click "Open".
Verify the type of file. Click the option "Transcript file" and then name it. It is best to name it the same as your video. Click "Upload file".
Let YouTube do the rest for you! YouTube will detect when someone is speaking and put the correct subtitle underneath when being said. When complete, go back to your video and play it (make sure you pressed "CC" on the player). You're done!
